One Time Volunteer Opportunities for November, 2009

Thanksgiving Food Basket Sorting and Packaging - Inland Valley Hope Partners will be hosting a food giveaway in the Inland Empire on Tuesday, November 24th, and they need volunteers to help sort and package beforehand, and to help distribute day of the event! Please bring food to be added to the Thanksgiving Baskets for people in need. Ontario. Please call Eva Salazar (714) 767-5500 or Alysha Sevilla (909) 802-4013 to register to volunteer.

Family Fun Celebration (Arts and Crafts) - Join us to provide a fun, social time for families at an Upland non-profit agency. During the service project volunteers will interact with the children and families and lead them in making holiday crafts. This is a family friendly project. Serve a Thanksgiving Dinner - The City of Pomona will host a Thanksgiving Dinner Celebration for everyone who needs a meal. They need volunteers to set-up, serve, and clean-up the Thanksgiving Meal at the Beta Center Foodbank in Pomona. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. Register at: www.handsoninlandempire.org

Inland Temporary Homes - Each Tuesday Night, volunteers assist the clients of Inland Temporary Homes by providing much needed companionship and recreation for toddler, kids and teens while their parents attend classes to enhance their parenting skills. Kids are split into age groups where volunteers facilitate age-appropriate arts, crafts, group activities and projects that will enhance the children's social and emotional development. The first hour is spent on the lesson-plan, and the second hour is spent in free play with the children. These kids love the attention and company you provide as a volunteer, and they'll bring out the child in you! Loma Linda. Register at: www.handsoninlandempire.org

Knit for Need - Looking to learn a new skill and meet new people? If so, Knit for Need is perfect for you! Once a week we gather a group of volunteers to knit socks, hats, and blankets for local homeless shelters and hospitals. Don’t know how to knit? No worries, we can teach you! This project is open to all skills levels. Please bring your own practice yarn and a pair of needles. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. Rancho Cucamonga. Red Cross Community Blood Drives -We also host regularly scheduled Blood Drives at many community locations. The drives run one or more times a week in Riverside County. Our Volunteer Staff never handle blood or needles, so no medical training or experience is required. Your group members must be at least 16 years of age. We will train your group at one of your meetings or at your first Blood Drive. Please contact Jerrie Dean at 800-558-3141 and you will be connected with a volunteer coordinator.
